Well, “outer skirts” in a 24 million metropolis is a bit . We’re only 20 km from the centre of Shanghai downtown and the whole metropolis is stretching over 6.341 square kilometres. If you would cross this space by foot, it would take 26 days to walk through! This city is 15 times bigger than Berlin.
Anyway, I was just biking a bit outside of the ring roads and the railroads, suddenly skyscrapers changed and just normal buildings appeared. The neighbourhood got very different and I immediately needed to take some pictures.
