Chinese trains – light speed

Chinese speed trains are among the fastest in the world . The Fuxing train connecting Shanghai to Beijing runs under 4,5 hours for its 1300 km distance. Reaching speeds up to 350 km/h. A bit more luxurious use in terms of leg space and also the services on board are more a normal German train can offer. You can order for example everything on your seat by phone and the service person will bring your meal or beverages to you. A special service, you can order Mc Donalds, KFC or any other Fast Food Chain and on the next station the food will be delivered to you by the service people. Trash is collected numerous times and when one person starts to eat, others will follow soon after.
The speed of travel feels super fast, and I needed to adopt at first a bit to the speed, as once we started our trip we immediately went to 300 km/h!
The train stations are super full with people but very well organised, other than in India 😉

Security is checked multiple times and foreigners need to know then can’t pass the security test and check in procedures in the normal automated line where Chinese nationals only scan their id to pass. We needed to look for a person, inspecting our passport and open the gate manually for us.
The price is comparable to German train tickets we payed 90 € one way. However the tickets can only be bought 2 weeks in advance, first com first serve, and also include a seat reservation by default.

All in all a very fast and convenient way to travel the country of the rising sun.
